The Huntington Beach International Surfing Museum had a surprise visit

at their Surfin’ Sundays concert recently.

While The Reventlos were performing, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher

(R-Huntington Beach) rode up on his bike with his wife and Congressman

Collin C. Peterson (D-Minn.). Rohrabacher told the crowd of his love for

surf music, his support for the museum and how much the Surfin’ Sundays

Concert Series adds to the Downtown atmosphere.

When Rohrabacher introduced Peterson as a fellow musician, it didn’t

take much coaxing from the crowd to get the Minnesotan to sing and play

guitar with the band on “My Little Run Away,†said Bob Frederickson of

the surf museum.

The blushing superintendent

At the last Fountain Valley School District meeting, Trustee Joanne

Lew told the board of her plans to nominate Supt. Marc Ecker as the

American Assn. of School Administrators Superintendent of the Year. Board

members then shared why they think the modest superintendent would be the

perfect candidate. The unassuming Ecker got flustered at everyone’s kind

praise.

“I’m really getting embarrassed, can we adjourn this meeting?†Ecker

asked.

Caving into pressure

In his efforts to try to reach a particular reporter, Fountain Valley

Mayor Guy Carrozzo buckled under the pressure and beeped that person,

admitting that it was the first time he had paged a reporter in 10 years.
