Jane Wells has been named director of print and traffic services at

the advertising agency Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder, in Newport Beach. Wells

will oversee the agency’s production department and supervise all print,

collateral and outdoor, for the entire client roster. A resident of Costa

Mesa, Wells graduated from San Diego State University with a bachelor’s

degree in journalism (with an emphasis in advertising) and a minor in

industrial/organizational psychology. ... The Orange County Red Cross

recently elected its new 2000-01 board of directors and officers of the

board. Corona del Mar resident Jo Ellen Allen was elected secretary.

Allen is the director of public affairs for Southern California Edison.

... Stefanie Warren, daughter of M. Susan Warren, of Newport Beach was

named to the Dean’s List at Emory College, the undergraduate, liberal

arts college of Emory University in Atlanta, for the 2000 spring

semester. ... The Friends of Orange Coast College’s Library have elected

officers for the 2000-01 school year. The organization provides volunteer

and financial support to OCC’s Norman E. Watson Library. The group has

250 members. Elected president was Christine A. Edwards of Newport Beach,

manager for special projects at Long Beach Airport. Edwards is serving

her sixth successive term as president. Donna Shockley of Newport Beach

is vice president. Shockley has been a liaison in recent years between

the Friends and the Lido Isle Women’s Club. Idamae Keily of Newport Beach

is membership chairwoman. Nancy Timmons of Costa Mesa is treasurer. ...

Wells College in Aurora, N.Y., recently announced that Lisa Owad of Costa

Mesa was a recipient of the school’s prestigious 21st Century Leadership

Award. Owad, a student at Newport Harbor High School, was nominated for

the award in recognition of the outstanding contributions she has made as

a student and leader in her school and community. She is among a

distinguished group of young women from across the country to receive the

honor. The award carries with it a $20,000 scholarship for four years of

study at Wells College. Wells was established in 1868 by Henry Wells,

founder of the Wells Fargo and American Express companies. Wells is a

four-year liberal arts college. ... OCC students Sheree King of Costa

Mesa and Dan Oase of Huntington Beach have been awarded $1,000 Coca-Cola

scholarships. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation in Atlanta awards 400

scholarships annually to community college students. The company presents

$1.8 million in college scholarships each year to high school and college

students. King, a social psychology major, has been active in OCC student

government for two years. She’s a member of OCC’s Student Board of

Trustees for 2000-01, and has also served as a member of the District

Student Council, the Student Services Coordinating Council and

Legislative Committee. King will transfer to Cal State Long Beach next

fall. Her career goal is to become a high school or community college

guidance counselor...
