RETAIL ROUNDUP
Our hair is getting longer and longer, and we just don’t know what to
do about it. Relief, however, is in sight: Images Salon in Corona del Mar
is having a cut-a-thon Sept. 10 to raise money for the Avon Breast Cancer
Three-Day Walk.
The event will feature $25 haircuts and $10 manicures, so maybe we can
get our ravaged cuticles dealt with even as we’re getting our locks
snipped into respectability.
Why, you ask, is the cut-a-thon event being appended to the breast
cancer walk? Why not just have the walk and be done with it? We’re not
clear on the logic, to be honest. But if it can make our hair look any
better, we’re not going to worry about it.
IF EVERYBODY HAD AN OCEAN ...
Before we are rescued from our mop-top look, perhaps we and our
hairstyle will scoot over to Triangle Square for a surf fashion show Aug.
26.
The event, organizers say, will feature all manner of surfing-related
garb and a performance by Orange County surf band, The Stingrays.
The Stingrays, to judge by the photos in their media kit, do not favor
the bowl-cut coiffure. However, we are convinced that the hippest of the
hip in surf culture must be aware of the bowl cut’s essential brilliance.
We note, by the way, that Project Wipe Out of Hoag Hospital will also
be at Triangle Square to distribute info on the perils of neck injuries.
Project Wipe Out wants to make sure surfers and swimmers don’t crash into
the sand head-first and end up with broken necks.
But you can also hurt your neck by head-banging too much to loud rock
‘n’ roll. So if The Stingrays really start to crank out the tunes,
please, be safe.
FURTHER NOTES ON HEAD-BANGING
And that reminds us: the Costa Mesa company Hollywood Music has just
arranged to handle the exclusive Webcast of rap-metal band Limp Bizkit’s
concert in Los Angeles today, which is the final show in its tour.
No doubt scads of angst-ridden Newport-Mesa youths will tune in to
this cataclysmic event, and perhaps will be wearing surf fashions, and
they may even have strange haircuts. One never knows what the youth are
up to these days.
In any event, the show is at o7 https://www.hollywoodmusic.comf7 .
