ON CAMPUS
With the Millennium celebration just around the corner we decided
to ask students from Costa Mesa High School what they had planned for New
Year’s Eve.
Here’s what they had to say:
“I’ll be going on vacation with my parents to Texas. For me the fact that
this will be the year 2000 makes no difference. We will probably be at
home dancing.”
IVTTE ORDONEZ, 17, senior, Costa Mesa
“I’m just going to stay at home. I’m kind of scared because the media has
been saying something bad is going to happen. That’s the main reason I am
going to be at home.”
ARIANA SOTO, 17, senior, Costa Mesa
“I just want to do something memorable. Because in 50 years when people
ask me what I did at the turn of the century, I want to say that I was
having a good time. That I was with my friends, not at home on the
couch.”
JILLIAN DeMELLO, 17, senior, Costa Mesa
“I will be baby-sitting until 11 p.m. After that I will probably be with
my friends. I want to have fireworks. Usually you only have them for the
Fourth of July, but this is different because it will be the millennium.”
KRISTEN BAGWELL, 14, freshman, Costa Mesa
“I think it would be fun in Times Square in New York watching the ball
drop. But I’ll probably be at a friend’s house playing board games,
lighting fireworks and banging pots and pans.”
SHARON DAY, 14, freshman, Costa Mesa
“I want to be with my friends. We will probably stay up all night long
talking about school, fashion and celebrities. We will probably be
drinking sparkling cider and eating pizza, candy, ice cream and maybe
Chinese food.”
EMILY ABBOTT, 14, freshman, Costa Mesa
