AYSO Region 97: Raging Thunder reach finals
NEWPORT BEACH - Nathan Cramer and Chad Stassel each scored goals to
lead the Raging Thunder over the Bullets, 2-1, in AYSO Region 97 Division
4 boys soccer semifinals action.
Solid offensive passing was turned in by Jonathan Gordon, Travis
Mayfield, Kyle Rohan and Colton Parks, while Jason Walker and Kalani
Simon led the midfield play.
On defense, Christian Barnett, Corbin Williamson and Kevin Eredia kept
the pressure off goalies Nick Weil and Brett Green, who had one save
each.
With the win, the Raging Thunder will take on the Wave Runners
December 4 for the championship.
In boys Division 5 action:
Jaguars 4, Tsunamis 2 - R.J. D’Cruz scored both of the Tsunamis goals
on penalty kicks, while Danny Miller and Cameron Chase each played well
at goalie.
Erik Bonn controlled the midfield, while Rex Nelson, Eric Holland and
Cesar Amador each played a solid all-around game.
Despite the semifinals loss, the first of the season for the Tsunamis,
they still advance to the finals of the playoffs.
In quarterfinals play, the Tsunamis’ knocked off the Shock Waves, 3-2,
with two goals from D’Cruz and and third by Amador.
In girls Division 6 action:
For the Teenie Wahines, they wrapped up their season Saturday with
goals scored by Jordan Murrel, Ashley Svendsen, Blakely Ficenec and Sayde
Busby, with assists from Jessica Swift, Cassie D’Cruz and Skylar Hanson.
Goalies Hannah MacLeod and Lindsay Anderson played solid in goal for
the Teenie Wahines.
