Marina High senior Jeanette Antolin, a five-year U.S. National

Gymnastics Team member, recently signed a national letter of intent to

attend UCLA.

Antolin, a member of SCATS Gymnastics in Huntington Beach, is one of

three Olympic hopefuls signed by Bruins head coach Valorie Kondos, giving

the school’s highly successful program consecutive outstanding recruiting

classes.

Antolin placed second at the recent U.S. World Team Trials, earning a

spot on the U.S. Team at the World Championships.

She also was a 1999 Pan American Games silver medalist and a bronze

medalist on bars at the 1998 USA Championships and on vault at the 1997

USA Championships.

Antolin is one of two Southern California gymnasts to sign with the

Bruins, joining San Dimas High senior Jamie Dantzscher.

“We are very excited to have Jeanette and Jamie join our ranks,” Kondos

said. “They are powerful and exciting gymnasts to watch, and should bring

a whole new skill level to the college gymnastics world. Both are from

the Southern California area, and it will be fun to have the support of

their families, friends, and local gyms at our home competitions.”

The third gymnastic to sign recently with the Bruins is Yvonne Tousek of

Southwood Secondary School in Cambridge, Ohio.

In other signing news, Edison High senior Michelle Zylstra, an All-Sunset

League center, has signed a national letter of intent with Northwestern

University in Evanston, Ill., the school announced.
