Newport-Mesa completes unbeaten run

NEWPORT BEACH - The Newport-Mesa boys seventh-grade All-Net team

won its fall leagud ivision and finished the regular season undefeated

with a 52-46 victory over North Huntington Beach in National Junior

Basketball action recently.

Neal Rafferty led the way with 12 points, with Brett Perrine, Carlos

Pinto and Kasey Peters all coming through with outstanding play.

On the girls eighth-grade level, Newport-Mesa’s Stingrays improved to

5-0 with the Eastern Division title of the All-Net Fall League, defeating

Fullerton, 34-13.

Scoring was led by Kate Heeschen (8 points) and Sara Stern (7 points).

Other offensive contributors were Jennifer Rennon (5), Lauren

Nurnberger (4), Kellie Flint (3), Stacey Meservey (3) Desiree Wilson (2)

and Melissa Alves (2).

The Stingrays’ defense was led by Alex Orosco, while Adrienne

Patterson led the team in rebounding.
