COASTLINE RECEIVES GRANTS

Coastline Community College received a $45,000 grant from Chase Manhattan

Bank to adapt the telecourse Dollars and Sense: Personal Finance for the

21st Century, for use in the high school market. This gift, which follows

an initial grant of $100,000 toward the original production of the course

last December, will enable high school students throughout the country to

learn responsible personal finance management skills. And the college was

recently awarded one of four grants from the California Community College

Chancellor’s Office to establish and operate a California Virtual

University Regional Center. The purpose of the center is to provide the

region’s 23 community college faculty and staff the technical support,

training, and resources necessary to develop and deliver effective online

and technology-mediated instruction. Funding for the first year totals

$575,000, and may be renewed annually for up to five years.

police department’s Critical Accident Suppression and Enforcement Team

will be monitoring the school bus stops.
