Lock your cars, Huntington Beach police urge residents after burglaries
Huntington Beach police are reminding residents to lock their cars after a man was caught on video burglarizing an unlocked SUV near Goldenwest Street and Ellis Avenue last month.
Video from a home security camera system shows the unidentified man entering the SUV, which was parked in a driveway at 4:17 a.m. April 30.
The man sat in the driver’s seat for about 30 seconds before exiting with several pairs of designer sunglasses, according to police.
Authorities said there have been several thefts recently from unlocked vehicles in the neighborhood near Goldenwest and Ellis.
“Suspects can go through a number of unlocked vehicles in a short amount of time,” police wrote in a post on social media. “Get into the habit of locking your vehicle from the inside and do not rely on the remote.”
