JWA reports fewer fliers for September
John Wayne Airport last month saw a 3.5% dip in airline passenger volume compared with September 2009, JWA officials said in a news release.
JWA served 683,999 passengers in September 2010, compared with 709,101 passengers in September 2009, airport officials said.
According to the release, commercial aircraft operations at the Orange County-owned and operated airport decreased by 4.1%, while commuter aircraft operations decreased sharply — by 62.8% — compared with those levels recorded in September 2009. However, general aviation activity, which accounted for 60% of the total aircraft operations during September 2010, decreased 0.4% in contrast to September 2009.
Ten airlines fly in and out of John Wayne, serving 20 destinations in the U.S. and Canada.
