Starting Aug. 5, the intersection of Barranca Parkway/Dyer Road and Red Hill Avenue in Irvine will be closed on three consecutive weekends for a road-widening project.

The first closure is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. Aug. 5, and end at 5 a.m. Aug. 8. Similar closures are planned for Aug. 12 to 15 and Aug. 19 to 22. During those times, traffic will be detoured around the intersection with signs and barricades, according to a news release from the city of Irvine.

The project, scheduled to be completed by the end of August, will widen the intersection and add new lanes. Traffic signal improvements, raised medians and new landscaping are also part of the plan.
