Firefighters made a “fast attack” against a fire at a single-story house in Costa Mesa on Monday, according to the fire department.
The fire, in the 2000 block of State Street, originated in the bedroom around 11 a.m., the Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue Department said. Mattresses were burning, and the blaze was extinguished five minutes after firefighters arrived, the department said. The house sustained moderate damage.
People in the home evacuated. One person was assessed by medical personnel and released without being taken to a hospital, the department said.
