Dorothy Ann Young
Obituary
Dorothy Ann Young, 86, passed away on June 30, 2011, peacefully in her bed with family close at hand. All of her children were able to visit with her in the hours before her passing.
Born in San Francisco to Harold and Evelyn Sell on Sept 23, 1924, she was married to Wallace Carey Young, her High School sweetheart, in Minnesota upon his return from serving in the Air Force during World War II. They contributed to the Baby Boom with six children; four in Minnesota and two more in California.
Known as Doranne to her friends, she was a tireless advocate for the rights of all individuals, and she valued family above all other things.
Doranne was preceded in death by her husband Wallace and brother Frank. She is survived by brother Raymond, daughters Ronnie and Shelley, sons Casey, Michael, Joseph, and David, grandchildren Adriana, Kimberly, Lindsay, Carrie, Rachel, Tara, John, and Jordan, and great-grandchildren Giovanni, Joaquin, and Chandler.
There will be a celebration of Doranne’s life on July 30 at 11:00 AM for family and friends at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, CA. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
Those who would like to make a charitable donation in Doranne’s name might consider a contribution to one of her favorites: PBS, UNICEF, or the Bowers Museum.
