Book Sale
The Orange Coast College Library and OCC’s Friends of the Library will hold a used book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library. Most books will sell for $1 each, and there will be a “buck-a-bag†sale from 2 to 3 p.m. OCC is at 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa.
Halloween Mixer
Priestley Family Chiropractic will host a Corona del Mar Chamber of Commerce Halloween Sunset Mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at its offices, 3 Corporate Plaza, Suite 200, Newport Beach. Homage to The Dude
“Joe Forkan — The Lebowski Cycle,†a painting exhibit, is at Frank M. Doyle Arts Pavilion, Orange Coast College, 2701 Fairview Road, Costa Mesa. The exhibit blends masterpieces of Western art with images from the 1998 film “The Big Lebowski.†Pavilion is open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Closed Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

‘It’s Your Money’ Workshops
Peter Kote will be leading the eight weeks of the free “It’s Your Money†workshops from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Mondays at the Newport Beach Public Library, 1000 Avocado Ave. The workshops promise to “provide attendees with education and practical solutions to financial and estate planning issues, so they can be in charge of their estates during their lifetimes and beyond,†according to a release. Meet the Researcher
The Roman Reed Foundation presents “An Evening with Dr.. Hans Keirstead,†a celebration of the UC Irvine researcher’s groundbreaking work into stem cell treatment for spinal chord injuries. The event will take place at the Sue & Bill Gross Stem Cell Research Center at UCI. Dr. Keirstead will give a lecture at 7:15 p.m., following a VIP reception at 5:30 p.m. and a public reception at 6:30 p.m. Tickets cost $150 for admission to the VIP reception, the lecture and a tour of the laboratory, and $50 for the public reception, lecture and lab tour. Meet The Artist
The Pacific Art Foundation hosts its annual Meet The Artist event featuring the work of eight female artists. A VIP cocktail reception at 6 p.m. will feature a presentation by Peter Frank, a consultant curator at the Riverside Art Museum who blogs about art for the Huffington Post. The event will take place at the Pacific Club, 4110 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach. The main exhibition will be opened for general admission at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $100 for admission to the cocktail and the exhibition and $75 for the exhibition only. Under the Stars
Leslie Helliwell, the naturalist at the Environmental Nature Center, 1601 16th St., Newport Beach will lead a one-hour session in helping people identify the stars.
