St. Mary’s hosts chili, cornbread cookoff

The Episcopal Church Women of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church are holding a chili and cornbread cook off at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 7. Admission to taste as much chili and cornbread as you like is $5. The entry fee for your chili and cornbread is $10 per item. The chili champion and maker of the best cornbread will receive a prize. Drinks will be available for purchase. Donations for Thanksgiving at Pendleton

The Laguna Presbyterian Church is collecting donations for Thanksgiving dinners for the military families at Camp Pendleton Base. This is in conjunction with the San Clemente Military Families Outreach volunteer program. The funds collected will help the program serve holiday meals to families who may have one spouse serving overseas. Donations are due to Laguna Presbyterian Church by Nov. 14. Make checks payable to LPC and mark for Holiday Meals on the memo line. Checks can be sent to LPC, 415 Forest Ave., Laguna Beach, CA. 92651. Checks may also be dropped off at the church office.
