Pick Up Free Compost

Laguna Beach residents may get free compost from 8 a.m. to noon at the ACT V lot, 1900 Laguna Canyon Road. The giveaway is sponsored by the city, Waste Management and green waste recycling contractor Tierra Verde Industries. Sandbags will be provided, which residents can fill with compost. Limit of six sandbags (about 80 pounds) per household on a first-come, first-served basis.

Lawn Bowling Club Open House

Learn some cool moves on the green when the Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling Club hosts its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 455 Cliff Drive. The club will be open for free demonstrations, $1 hot dogs and drinks, and a chance to meet local tournament champions and top players. Those wanting to try their skill should wear flat-sole, tennis-type shoes; equipment will be provided. Boys & Girls Club Gala

Library Lunch Benefit

The sixth annual Ladies Who Lunch ... And Read benefit will take place at 11:30 a.m. at Sapphire Laguna. The event is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Laguna Beach Library. Participants may share books they have enjoyed, and prizes will be given for the best hats. Connections For Artists

The Southern California Artists Assn. invites artists to join them for an evening with Jeannie Denholm, owner of SCAPE in Corona del Mar. An art advisor, noted curator and art collection manager, Denholm will speak on “Aspects of Private Collections and Curating,” from 5 to 6 p.m. at 3251 Laguna Canyon Road, Suite F3.

Seniors Computer Lab

The Susi Q Senior Center’s computer lab is available to all members for use. If you have any computer related questions, stop by and a volunteer will assist. Beach Cleanup

HelpBlueWater.com volunteers meet at noon on Sunday at Mozambique’s lower parking lot for a weekly beautification effort. Free parking available. To reward volunteers after the cleanup, Mozambique will provide a half-off lunch menu from 1 to 3 p.m. In addition, Mozambique will be showcasing British singer-songwriter Jason Feddy.
