Women’s Self-Defense

A one-day self-defense class for women will be held from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Ultimate Self Defense, 488 17th St. #B101, Costa Mesa. The class will be geared toward women ages 14 and older of all athletic abilities. The cost is $20 per person. For more information, call (949) 650-8636.

Battle of the Harmonicas

Four unsigned blues harmonica bands will vie for cash awards and the opportunity to perform as the opening act at the 22nd annual Battle of the Blues Harps from 12 to 4 p.m. at the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds. Admission to the finals is free with a canned food donation to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County and includes the swap meet. Regular admission is $2 and free for children 12 and younger.

Fall Festival

Christ Lutheran’s annual Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 760 Victoria Street, Costa Mesa. Entry to the event is free and tickets for the rides and games are 50 cents. There will also be food vendors, entertainment and a chili cook-off.
