Mailbag: Relax and enjoy the trolleys
I just read Dave Hansen’s article about the summer trolleys, “Free trolleys? Riders pay, believe me,†July 31. My friends and I affectionately call them “loopers.†I have had good looper luck this summer.
I thought it seemed like there were more of them. I live on Cliff Drive at picnic beach and there’s a looper stop where I live. I never have to wait long and the view is awesome, even if there’s a little wait.
I think we’re fortunate to have the trolley system and I love it. People complain too much. I just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

Life is sweeter and safer when slow
Go slow, Laguna.
My children, who grew up in Laguna Beach, spent the summer vacation here in July. They noticed the aggressiveness and irritation of so many drivers now.
My son thought of a slogan we can use while driving in town. Go slow, Laguna. Many small towns in Europe and other places are tranquil, as we aspire to be. I later read that when a few change the dynamics of their driving, it spreads to others.
As a pedestrian and driver, I have said to myself, “Go slow, Laguna†while at four-way stops and have not gotten angry when others jumped their turn. Then I can continue to enjoy this beautiful town I live in.
