Park Avenue will see part-time closures

Part of Park Avenue will be closed to cars starting next week as crews replace a sewer line.
The section of Park Avenue between Third and Bent streets will close from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Jan. 1 so workers can dig a trench and insert a new pipeline. The work coincides with Laguna Beach Unified School District’s winter break, which planners hope will lessen traffic impacts.
Drivers are encouraged to use Legion Street to access Coast Highway during the closure.
At the end of each work day, the contractor will place steel plates over the trench and open Park Avenue to traffic.
Since October crews have been replacing aged sewer pipes in areas near City Hall, including the Lumberyard Parking Lot. The project is scheduled to be completed by next spring.
For future updates and project information, refer to the city’s water quality department website at clbwq.net, or call the project hotline at (949) 464-6616.
