DEAR SOS: I yearn for a recipe you once ran that I have misplaced. It was Ralphs’ Bran Muffins. I would like to thank you if you can help me out.

DEAR CASS: You’re welcome.
Heat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 12-cup muffin pan and set aside.
Mix the shortening and molasses until creamy. Add the egg and beat well. Stir in the bran and milk. Let the mixture stand until most of the moisture is absorbed.
Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the molasses mixture with the dates and stir only until blended. Fill the muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake the muffins until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about 25 to 30 minutes.
