Readers React: A choice on street vendors
To the editor: I’m an immigrant too, one who is working hard to support my family and our employees in our small restaurant. We have invested in our community, and we are here to stay. (“Shopkeepers not sold on legalizing street vending,†Sept. 25)
The council must give the brick-and-mortar businesses and local residents a choice as to whether street vending is allowed in their neighborhoods.

To the editor: It’s the vendor who sets up a stationary pseudo business outside a shop that is the unfair competition.
If vendors could spend no more than half an hour or so in any one public location before moving along, there would be far fewer complaints from businesses.
Sidewalk vendors? Sure — but keep them moving along our sidewalks.
