Readers React: Jesus is already on TV. Can we keep him out of government meetings?
To the editor: Holy small screen! Though I’m not part of the “underserved faith-based audience,†if television networks can succeed by increasing religious programming, that’s wonderful. (“Television puts more faith in religious-themed projects,†March 28)
When spiritually oriented shows appear on my TV screen, no problem; I can simply change the channel. If only I could have a similar option when I attend supposedly secular government meetings and find myself subjected to a protracted, pious invocation.
Here’s hoping increased religious TV programming will satiate faith-based audiences so as to diminish their demand for sanctimonious public prayers.
