Re “Homeless man is charged in New York subway death,” Dec. 6

The frightening New York subway death originally reported in the New York Post could never have occurred on some of the Paris Metro lines. Some stations separate passengers from moving trains with transparent barriers and automatic gates that open only when passengers board and exit.

After a few days in Paris, using the Metro on a regular basis and feeling well protected, we were astounded that New York subway stations do not have similar safety precautions.
