DALLAS A man charged in the deaths of four women in an accident Saturday also will be charged with four counts of failure to render aid, Dallas police said Monday.
Officers apprehended Jose Lule after he tried to flee the scene where the pickup he was driving slammed into the women’s car at Webb Chapel Road and Park Lane.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office identified the victims as 65-year-old Maria Rodriguez de Vizcarra, 55-year-old Maria Morales, 42-year-old Mirna Vizcarra and 38-year-old Raquel Vizcarra.
Police also said Monday that although beer bottles were found in Lule’s vehicle and a passenger was drunk, Lule was not intoxicated.
The Mineral Wells man was driving north about 9:30 p.m. on Webb Chapel when his truck collided with the victims’ car, police said. The truck hit the driver’s side of the car, which was pushed into a utility pole.
The women were related and attended a Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall near where the accident occurred, KDFW-TV reported. The hall’s elder said the women went door-to-door to share their faith.
The women’s names had not been released because their relatives in California had not been notified, KDFW said.
Police said three other people in Lule’s truck also ran away after the accident, but they were all caught nearby.
No details were provided about their identities or any charges they might face.
Police did not release further details about Lule, whose Facebook profile indicates he graduated from Mineral Wells High School this year.
His family could not be reached for comment.
