Activists burn Confederate flags in Lincoln Park
Activists gathered in Lincoln Park on Saturday, June 27, 2015, and burned several Confederate flags. The action was in part a response to the fatal mass shooting in Charleston, S.C., which killed nine black people at a church. Earlier Saturday, a woman was arrested for climbing a flag pole and removing the Confederate flag outside the South Carolina capitol. Later, rallies in support of the flag took place in several southern states.
