Motorist injured in fatal wrong-way crash on 60 Freeway identified

Authorities on Sunday night identified another motorist injured in a fatal wrong-way crash on the 60 Freeway in Diamond Bar.

Olivia Culbreath, 21, was heading east on the westbound 60 Freeway about 4:40 a.m. when her 2013 Chevrolet Camaro collided head-on with a 1998 Ford Explorer, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Witnesses told CHP officers that the Camaro was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The crash left six people dead.

On Sunday night, authorities identified a man injured in a third vehicle struck by the Ford Explorer: Joel Cortez, 57, of La Puente. Cortez, who was driving a 2006 Ford Freestyle, suffered minor injuries, authorities said.

Culbreath is in serious but stable condition at Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center with a broken femur and a ruptured bladder, said Rodrigo Jimenez, a CHP spokesman. She has been arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and felony manslaughter.

On Sunday evening, the CHP was still trying to determine which vehicles the multiple victims had been traveling in.

Two women who were passengers in the Camaro died at the scene, authorities said. One was a 24-year-old woman from Chino and the other a 24-year-old woman from Rialto.

Three women were ejected from their vehicles. One died at the scene, authorities said, and two others later died at UC Irvine Medical Center. A 47-year-old man was also ejected from one of the vehicles and died at the scene.

The victims’ names have not been released, pending notification of family members.
