Man charged in possible gang-related killing of Alhambra man
A 25-year-old San Gabriel man was charged with murder in Los Angeles County Superior Court in Alhambra on Wednesday, accused of shooting a man to death Sunday night.
Lin Xia, 25, is accused of firing several shots at a man sitting in a vehicle parked in a garage Sunday night, said Sgt. Jerry Johnson, a spokesman for the Alhambra Police Department.
Police arrested Xia as he left in a white Mercedes-Benz with two others: Bei Quang, a 25-year-old male from El Monte, and Luo Wei, a 24-year-old woman from Alhambra. Quang and Wei have been released because authorities did not have sufficient evidence to charge them with a crime, Johnson said.
The victim has been identified as Qin Jin Fang, a 43-year-old businessman from Alhambra, said Lt. Fred Corral with the Los Angeles County coroner’s investigations division. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police are searching for a motive, but evidence suggests that the murder was gang related, Johnson said.
