2 alleged O.C. pimps face human trafficking charges

Two alleged pimps in Orange County face charges in two separate cases related to the human trafficking and pandering of teenage girls, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Davion D’Anthony Johnson-Harris, 24, has been charged with one felony count each of pimping and pandering, facing a maximum sentence of six years in state prison if convicted, according to a statement from the Orange County district attorney’s office.

Johnson-Harris is set to be arraigned Wednesday.

In another case, prosecutors said Curtis Maurice Canady, 19, has been charged with two felony counts of human trafficking with intent to pander, two felony counts of pandering a minor by procuring and one felony count of attempted pandering.

Canady is being held on $75,000 bail.

In Johnson-Harris’ case, prosecutors have accused him of being a pimp and human trafficker, exploiting an 18-year-old woman for commercial sex.

He was arrested in a sting operation in which Anaheim police responded to an ad featuring the woman, which had been posted to a website used to find prostitutes.

During the sting, prosecutors said, investigators found that Johnson-Harris had been her pimp for about four days, telling her how much to charge for various sex acts.

In Canady’s case, prosecutors said he was dropping off three teenage women -- a 19-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old -- in an area of Anaheim known for prostitution.

Prosecutors said undercover Anaheim police officers saw two of the teens and talked to them at the scene. Canady was arrested last week by federal law enforcement in what authorities described as a large-scale human trafficking sweep.
