Traffic snarled on 91 Freeway in Riverside after crash
Rush-hour traffic on the eastbound 91 Freeway in Riverside was snarled Wednesday evening by a multi-vehicle collision that was blocking all lanes, the California Highway Patrol said.
The accident was reported near Jackson Street about 4:30 p.m. and appeared to involve at least four vehicles, the CHP said. The agency issued a SigAlert shortly after units arrived.
The CHP said its units were trying to push some of the vehicles out the way to open up lanes on the busy Inland Empire freeway.
At least one person was reported trapped in a vehicle as ambulances and fire engines responded, according to initial CHP reports from the scene.
It was unclear how long the lanes would remain closed. No other details were immediately available.
