Pedestrian killed in crosswalk in Santa Fe Springs
A 50-year-old Whittier man was charged with vehicular homicide Saturday after he struck and killed a pedestrian in a Santa Fe Springs crosswalk, police said.
Rogelio Garcia was driving south on Broadway at 9:44 a.m. Saturday when he struck Michael Ray Stillwell, 62, also from Whittier, who was walking through the crosswalk at Washington Boulevard and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Lt. Steven Dean of the Whittier Police Department, which patrols Santa Fe Springs, said Garcia was unlicensed and required to wear glasses, which he did not have.
