Shooting outside Harvard Heights bar leaves one woman dead
A 36-year-old woman died Saturday after being shot in the head outside a Harvard Heights bar, authorities said.
The woman, identified by the coroner’s office as Siria Portillo Torres, was standing outside Lupillos Bar in the 1400 block of South Western Avenue around 8 p.m. when she was struck by gunfire, according to Los Angeles police Officer Mike Lopez.
Witnesses told police that after Torres was shot, she walked into the bar and collapsed, Lopez said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
The gunman is described as a man in his 30s, and police believe he may have been trying to shoot at another person outside the bar.
In the last 12 months, there have been three homicides within a one-mile radius of Saturday’s shooting, according to The Times’ Homicide Report database.
