A woman in her 30s was able to fight off a man who attacked her in the laundry room of her East Hollywood apartment complex Thursday night, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 7:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Edgemont Steet. The woman had left the workout room of the complex when she saw a man in his 20s whom she didn’t recognize loitering in the laundry room area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The man then punched her in the face and attempted to pull down her pants. The woman began screaming and trying to fight him off, police said.
