Ex-volleyball coach convicted of molesting 2 girls; faces prison term
A former junior-varsity volleyball coach at an East L.A. high school pleaded no contest Tuesday to molesting two 15-year-old girls and agreed to serve three years in prison and register as a sex offender for life.
Jonathan Adam Roldan, 23, pleaded no contest to one felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with one victim and one misdemeanor count of child molestation involving the second victim, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Reinhold Mueller.
Roldan is scheduled to be sentenced June 9.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Maral Injejikian also issued a protective order barring Roldan from having any contact with the two victims for a decade.
Roldan allegedly met his two victims at Esteban E. Torres High School., where he worked as a campus aide and coach.
As part of the plea, he admitted engaging in an ongoing sexual relationship with one female student starting in September. About a month later, he admitted beginning a relationship with the second student.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Bureau arrested Roldan in December on the same day that one of the victims reported him to school officials.
