Big rig tips and spills asphalt, closing two lanes of southbound I-5 in Arleta
A big rig overturned on Interstate 5 near Osborne Street in Arleta early Saturday, spilling asphalt and closing two southbound lanes.
The crash occurred about 2:30 a.m., CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said, but the cause was unclear.
The big rig spilled 27,000 pounds of asphalt, Kimball said. As of 3:40 a.m., three southbound lanes were open.
A Sigalert report said traffic was slow from Van Nuys Boulevard.
One person was injured and taken to a hospital, Kimball said.
The CHP did not offer an estimated time for cleanup.
