Southbound 101 lanes reopen in Hollywood after crash kills pedestrian

A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car on the 101 Freeway early Tuesday at Highland Avenue in Hollywood, prompting three southbound lanes to be closed for more than two hours and snarling the morning commute toward downtown.
The victim, identified only as male, was reportedly hit by the car just before 5 a.m., said California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada. The body remained on the freeway for more than an hour as authorities investigated.
Several drivers stopped after the collision and were interviewed by investigators.
The lanes were reopened shortly after 7:35 a.m., but traffic remained slow from the Cahuenga Pass through Hollywood.
