Search of Krishna temple comes up empty after man claimed he was inside and ready to shoot
A man claiming to be inside a Krishna temple ready and planning a shooting prompted an hours-long evacuation of the area and heavy police response Friday.
The Los Angeles Police Department received a threatening call before 7 a.m., Officer Mike Lopez said. The man said he was in the International Society for Krishna Consciousness temple in the 3700 block of Wasteka Avenue and was armed with explosives and firearms. He told officers he planned a shooting that morning.
Police evacuated all surrounding buildings and treated the incident as a barricade, authorities said.
By early afternoon, authorities had searched the temple and determined no one was inside.
