Family, police searching for distraught missing teen in Pacoima
Police in Pacoima are looking for a distraught 17-year-old who went missing Saturday after he stabbed himself in the hand during an argument with his family.
Luis Alberto Ortiz recently learned that his cancer had returned, and he may have been suicidal when he left home, said his father, Cesar Ortiz. The teen was last seen riding a bicycle north on Bartee Avenue from Gain Street in Pacoima on Saturday at about 12:45 p.m, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Ortiz has brown hair and brown eyes, is 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds and may have been riding a black BMX bicycle. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, yellow shorts and gray shoes, according to police.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Mission Area Police station at (818) 838-9800.
