Man allegedly carrying shotgun shot by police in Boyle Heights
A Los Angeles Police Department officer on Sunday shot a man who was allegedly carrying a shotgun in the street, authorities said.
Officers received a call about an armed man in the 3200 block of East 6th Street in Boyle Heights about 1:45 p.m., Officer Sally Madera said. When officers arrived, they found a man carrying a shotgun and called for backup, she said.
But an officer fired a shot at the man, who was struck and taken to a nearby hospital. It is unclear why the officer fired and what condition the man is in.
