Prosecutors filed criminal charges Friday against a 23-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman inside a Metro train.

Danon Drake was charged with two counts of sexual battery by restraint and one count each of sexual penetration by foreign object and assault with intent to commit a felony, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.

Authorities say Drake was aboard an eastbound Purple Line train about 10:45 p.m. May 17 as it left the Wilshire/Western Station when he pushed the woman to the ground as the train was heading for Union Station and began assaulting her.

The woman was able to break free and fled when the train stopped at the next station.

Drake turned himself in to the Inglewood Police Department after his photograph was released to the public.

Drake faces up to 11 years and four months in state prison if convicted of all charges.
