Intruder fatally shot by San Pedro homeowner during break-in

A homeowner who woke up Friday to find a man inside his San Pedro residence fatally shot the intruder, police said.

The homeowner heard the man breaking into the home in the 300 block of West 11th Street about 3 a.m., said Officer Liliana Preciado of the Los Angeles Police Department.
He shot the man in the head. The intruder was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The homeowner has not been arrested and was cooperating with police, Preciado said.
