Azusa fire grows to 200 acres
A brush fire in the Angeles National Forest above Azusa has grown to 200 acres, and hikers and picnickners have been evacuated, officials said Sunday.
The fire was at Mile Marker 24 on Highway 39, according to a U.S. Forest Service spokesman, who also said that the highway has been closed.
The blaze was first reported about 2:30 p.m. Fire officials said they have assigned air crews to the blaze, and CalFire is assisting L.A. County firefighters.
Residents are not being allowed into the area.
Officials noted conditions in the area were hot and muggy.
