Woman dead in Harbor City shooting
A woman was fatally shot and a man was wounded Friday when an assailant fired at a barbecue stand outside an auto parts store in Harbor City.
Police said the attack occurred about 1:50 p.m. in the 1300 block of Pacific Coast Highway.
The gunman approached the Wheaton’s Eatins barbecue stand in the Pep Boy’s parking lot and opened fire, authorities said.
Witnesses said the gunman, who was wearing a bandana or mask, briefly chased the man who was shot before fleeing.
The two victims were taken to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center where the woman died. The man did not have life-threatening injuries.
Officer Jane Kim of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section said Friday night that their identities were not being released pending notification of next of kin.
Kim said no suspect was in custody.
