Girl, 4, killed in hit-and-run in Glendale
A 4-year-old girl was killed Friday evening by a hit-and-run driver in Glendale.
The incident happened about 5 p.m. in the 1200 block of East Wilson Avenue, said Glendale police Officer Tom Lorenz.
“This is such a tragedy,†he said.
The girl was identified by relatives as Violeta Khachaturyan, KTLA5 reported.
Authorities say the child ran into the street from between two parked cars and was hit.
The driver fled the scene in a white or beige sedan going southbound on Wilson, police said. Lorenz said police believe the car has “significant front-end damage.â€
The child flew around 40 feet after being struck, hitting the back of another car, breaking the back window, Lorenz said.
The girl was pronounced dead at a hospital, police said.
“There was nothing the driver could have done, and had he or she stopped, no crime would have been committed,†Lorenz said. “But now it’s felony hit-and-run.â€
Anyone with information about the car or driver is asked to call Glendale police at (818) 548-4911.
