Funnel cloud spotted crossing I-5 near Sacramento
A funnel cloud was spotted Friday evening near Sacramento, the National Weather Service said.
A trained weather spotter saw the funnel cloud crossing Interstate 5 in the suburb of Woodland, about 15 miles northwest of the state capital.
The “spotter estimated [the] funnel was approximately 800 feet off the ground,†the National Weather Service said.
A tornado warning was issued from 6:24 p.m. to 7:04 p.m. for parts of Sacramento, Sutter and Yolo counties after the funnel cloud’s spotting.
The storm was moving north at 25 mph and strengthened by 6:42 p.m., then later weakened, the weather service said.
