Firefighters extinguished a small brush fire in Griffith Park on Saturday afternoon after aggressively attacking the blaze before it could spread, officials said.
The 3- to 5-acre fire erupted about 2:30 p.m., according to Erik Scott, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
About 100 firefighters, assisted by water-dropping helicopters, battled the blaze and were able to douse it by 4 p.m., Scott said. Relatively cool temperatures – about 82 degrees combined with 38% humidity – helped firefighters contain the fire, he said.
No structures were threatened, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles County firefighters battled another blaze in the Lancaster area that scorched about 35 acres.
No structures were threatened.
