Two firefighters injured in Hollywood apartment fire
Two firefighters were injured Friday while fighting a stubborn blaze at a two-story apartment building in Hollywood, sending both to the hospital.
Firefighters were called to the two-story building at 5957 Barton Ave. on reports of smoke coming from a basement, authorities said.
More than 50 firefighters battled the fire for more than two hours, using thermal imaging to track its progress up interior walls, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
One firefighter was taken to a hospital in fair condition and another was treated and released at the scene, Scott said.
No other injuries were reported. Property losses are still being tabulated. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
