San Francisco political consultant captured after FBI search
A San Francisco political consultant and social media expert suspected of possessing explosives has been captured, the FBI said Monday night.
Ryan Kelly Chamberlin II, 42, was taken into custody at Crissy Field, not far from the Golden Gate Bridge.
Over the weekend, authorities announced that they had launched a search for Chamberlin after FBI agents allegedly found explosives in his apartment in the San Francisco neighborhood of Russian Hill.
Chamberlin is well known in Bay Area media and political circles and helped Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom in his winning 2003 San Francisco mayoral campaign, according to a report in the San Francisco Chronicle.
On his website, Chamberlin said he was a social media consultant for the Chronicle and served as a consultant and manager for several Bay Area political campaigns.
Chamberlin touts his digital and social media expertise on his site.
“I was doing it before it was a thing,†he says.
