1 dead in 5 Freeway crash; some northbound lanes closed in Castaic
At least one person was killed Sunday afternoon in a crash on the 5 Freeway in Castaic, authorities said.
Few details were immediately available about the crash, which California Highway Patrol Officer Jennifer Cassidy said was reported north of Lake Hughes Road shortly before 2 p.m.
Cassidy said one person was confirmed dead, but it was unclear whether other injuries were reported.
Initial information from a CHP incident summary indicated multiple vehicles were involved.
A SigAlert was issued and two of the freeway’s northbound lanes were expected to be closed for three hours, Cassidy said.
[Updated at 7:50 p.m.: All lanes have reopened. The victim was described as a white female].
