Earthquake: 3.1 quake strikes at Twentynine Palms base
A shallow magnitude 3.1 earthquake was reported Saturday morning centered on the Twentynine Palms Marine training base in San Bernardino County.
The temblor occurred at 4:52 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0.6 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The USGS said the epicenter was 30 miles north of Joshua Tree, 32 miles north-northwest of Twentynine Palms, 33 miles north-northeast of Yucca Valley and 39 miles east-northeast of Big Bear City.
In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
