California soldier dies in Afghanistan of ‘non-combat’ injury
Reporting from San Diego — A U.S. soldier from California has died in Afghanistan from a “non-combat-related incident,†the Pentagon announced.
Spec. Terry Hurne, 34, of Merced, died June 9 in Logar Province. He was part of the 10th Mountain Division, 710th Brigade Support Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team from Ft. Drum, N.Y.
Hurne, who enlisted in 2009, was on his second deployment to Afghanistan. He was a utilities equipment repairman.
No further details on his death were released.
